We start with a talented group of musicians. They have done well while performing covers of rock hits in pubs. Their metal versions of pop hits are particularly popular.
One day, while driving their van home from a poorly paying gig, they pass through a spacetime anomily. The band find themselves in 1961. A time before many of their favourite songs were written.
They use this unexpected change to attempt to become the greatest rock band of all time.
