With no fanfare or warning, right where you are up to now, add in a character called Dan. Dan is a bad influence on everyone.

  • Dan and a character get romantically involved
  • Dan causes far more problems than the villain does
  • your protagonist gets into an argument or debate with Dan and is wrong
  • Dan eats everyone’s lunch
  • the trouble Dan makes helps solve the main plot somehow
