In the lead-up to your characters trying to get whatever it is they want, have them talk about why they are doing what they are doing. Have them ask each other what they hope to achieve. Select a character who will start to doubt the wisdom of their planned actions. Have that character try to talk the others out of the plan and the other characters try to talk them back into the plan.
