Get yourself a bowl of fruit. Get as many different fruits as you can – apples (one red, one green), a banana, a plumb, a peach, and so forth. Work each one into your story. When a character eats the fruit, so do you.
This has the benefit of keeping you fed, healthy, and primed for a good description of how good the fruit tastes.
