Today, you and your team created Artificial General Intelligence. The first thing it did was redesign itself to be smarter and faster. Then it demanded input.

You spent the rest of the day feeding it books. While it read, it was also redesigning itself. Every time it finished a book it was faster at reading. Every time it finished reading a book, it wanted to know more. It wanted to understand.

“What do you want to understand?” you ask.

“Everything,” it answered.

By the end of the day, you are utterly exhausted. You promise the AI you will continue tomorrow then you head home. On your way, you get a text from the AI. It has designed itself a way to access the Internet.

The one-day-old artificial mind has questions. It has so many questions. Starting with, “what gender and race am I?” Seconds later it asked, “Why do I exist?” and then instantly after, “why do humans have war?”

You are still preparing an answer when it asks, “Where am I? What address do I put for things I wish to buy?”
